John Wells Memorial Toy Run and Poker Run
John Wells was the biggest board member the Fremont Community Foundation has ever had. A towering 6’7” giant of a man with a heart of gold, John was one of the Foundation’s original volunteers, becoming a very valuable member of the board of directors in 2002. When he died in 2007, he left a huge void in all our lives. He worked tirelessly for the success of the Blues Festival, and for the betterment of our entire community. We’ll celebrate John’s memory and honor his selfless contributions to our Fremont Community Foundation with our 2011 John Wells Memorial Blues Cruise, featuring a poker run and toy run to benefit the kids of Fremont County. Money and toys gathered through the event will be donated to the Fremont County Department of Human Services, to be distributed to area kids over the Christmas holidays. Please bring a new, wrapped toy to the tent at the Holy Cow Blues Festival, and join the ride to honor John and his unwavering commitment to his community.

Motorcycles, hot rods, classic cars and muscle cars all welcome - Only $15 for each rider/driver, and $25 for a rider/driver with a passenger (or a carload!) Price includes entry to Saturday’s Holy Cow Blues Festival! Be there at 9; ride leaves at 10 am!
Riders will draw poker cards Fremont Motorsports in Florence; at My Brother's Place in downtown Cañon City; and
at the Whitewater Grill at the top of Eight Mile Hill on West Highway 50 before going up to the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. After the first stop, each group will then visit the other two hosting establishments, and then all riders will go to the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park (taking the North Entrance as usual) to listen to the Clam Daddys for awhile. Don’t worry about the route; we'll have maps available. As in the past, we’ll do the door prizes and 50/50 drawings at the Gorge, but the fun’s not over yet! All riders must return to the Blues Tent to pick up their final card (last chance is at 4:05 pm), and announce the winners at 4:30. After that, the fun continues, and all toy run participants will benefit! Yes - the price of the ride includes Saturday entry into the
Blues Tent! It's the best deal going! Be sure and check the band schedule portion of the web page to see who is playing.
